020 [Accidental voice/Voice/Action]

[The journal clicks on accidentally. Knocked over by an orange cat desperate for the tuna that’s been set out for her by a tattooed hand. The book falls to the ground, and footsteps walk away uncaring across Sanji’s kitchen floor. It doesn’t show anything more.

But, if you listen, the faint strains of a song can be heard, coming from far away (upstairs). The lyrics could be interpreted as a party tune, but the singer clearly means it as a requiem.]

Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo,
Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo,
Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo,
Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo,

Going to deliver Binks' Sake!
Following the sea breeze! Riding on the waves!
Far across the salty depths! The merry evening sun!
The birds sing as they draw circles in the sky!

Farewell to the harbor, To my old hometown
Lets all sing out with a Don! As the ship sets sail
Waves of gold and silver dissolve to salty spray
As we all set sail to the ends of the sea

[To the ends of the sea. They sail now, chasing that far horizon. Raftel. One Piece.

Law leans against Brook’s former door (his father in Luceti Valley) before sweeping Zoro’s old room (his grandson) and finding one hidden bottle left. He raises it in salute before breaking it open. Franky’s room (there’s a hammer in the middle of the floor), Ussop’s room has a couple of rubber bands. Chopper’s room has bandaids. Ace and Bellemere’s former room smells like fire and gunpowder and cigarettes.

Mister Strawhat’s room (his rival, his equal) has brass elephants, an old rib bone, and a piece of straw resting on the pillow.

He goes back downstairs.]

Going to deliver Binks' Sake!
We are pirates sailing through the Sea!
The waves are our pillows, The ship our roost
Flying the proud skull on our flags and our sails

[This is not supposed to be a sad thing. It’s not. But it aches full of regret and nostalgia just the same.

Something is passing. A new wind is blowing. The age is turning.

Once upon a time they had been family. They had always been rivals. One day allies, probably one day enemies, driven to it by the one thing that called them all. Who knew… maybe one day they would be friends. It had seemed possible here.

But what would be, would be. Would it be what Law wanted then, so fresh to Luceti’s soil?

Maybe. It wouldn’t be what he wanted now.]

Now comes a storm through the far-off sky
Now the waves are dancing, Beat upon the drums
If you lose your nerve this breath could be your last
But if you just hold on, The morning sun will rise

[Nami’s room (his granddaughter in law) has something glittering gold in it, and a hair ribbon. He doesn’t touch them. Vivi’s has a dry breeze and the faint scent of perfume.]

Yo-hohoho, Yo-hohoho,
Yo-hohoho, Yo-hohoho,
Yo-hohoho, Yo-hohoho,
Yo-hohoho, Yo-hohoho

[Robin’s room has books. Many books.

And a ring. An engagement ring.

Law’s eyes travel in the direction of CH3, and then to the ring.

To what he must personally do.]

Going to deliver Binks' Sake!
Today, and tomorrow, our dreams through the night!
Waving our goodbyes, we'll never meet again!
But don't look so down, For at night the moon will rise!

[Sanji’s (his nephew) has letters. At that point he starts and glances up. For a moment he thinks there’s someone sitting on the roof.

It’s new feather season. Perhaps some eternal wandering soul is resting up there before moving on.

He takes the letters, going through the names to which he needs to deliver them.

If there is one for him? This is where he reads it.]

Going to deliver Binks' Sake!
Let's all sing it with a Don! A song of the waves
Doesn't matter who you are, Someday you'll just be bones
Never-Ending, Ever-wandering, Our funny Traveling tale!

[It’s time to go. They’re all gone, for now.

Wait.

He stops in the living room. Walks to a wall. One more thing…]

[Filtered 100% from Marco (Its action for you)]

I’m sorry to inform you that Sanji, Miss Robin, and Miss Vivi have left Luceti and now we’re absent the Strawhat crew. Sanji left letters for some of you. I’ll be delivering them tomorrow. Wish them good sailing.

And I have a favour to ask one of his good friends on behalf of him. His cat Pumpkin needs someone to care for her. Would one of you mind taking her in?

[And then it’s done and there’s nothing left for him in the house. Nothing but memories and ghosts of the pirates who lived there.]

See you in the New World.

[The journal clicks off. Law shuts the door, and carries Pumpkin and the letters out, past the mikan and sakura trees planted out from, to House 22, then CH3, then the bar. Leaves House 6 behind.

… leaves it behind with the Strawhat flag finally flying high outside.]

[People going home was supposed to be a good thing. Except of course in Luceti, it was always a part of a cycle. You saw people come, you saw them go, and sometimes you saw them come again... more than once. And sometimes you made friends, even when knowing it might be a temporary thing. Shared experiences even knowing it would be a temporary thing.

And when they disappeared, one sometimes could feel that maybe along the way they had forgotten just how fleeting it all could be.

Nami and Sanji had both been good friends. The others she was less familiar with, but it still seemed poignant all the same. That group had been together for so long.

She still wasn't completely used to the former being gone - not with the way she sometimes would disappear from the village anyway, but then turn up unexpectedly, but it had already been months now, since her last stay. And Sanji ... it was funny, how they had only really just started building a real friendship, after all those years of knowing one another as more acquaintances at best. The cooking lessons had really started it off, his inadvertently coming to her rescue a few times, the time they spent in the little flower patch where they both remembered Ginko, and Sayo, and it had already been months since then as well.

She would go there today, at some point: it just seemed fitting to do so.]

... thank you for letting us know.

... Hm? [She hadn't been expecting a response, though she still had the book open, thoughtful, reflecting.] Sanji had been instructing me for a while. I didn't know the others very well.

[Mostly that they were a part of the group and always were at their various celebrations. And Vivi had played a role in that particular play.]
